DIY Beauty {Pumpkin Mask}

Oct 7, 2016

As an esthetician, I love making my own masks and scrubs with natural ingredients, and I thought I would start sharing my recipes :) In the spirit of Fall, this pumpkin enzyme mask is deliciously good! This is a great chemical exfoliant because of the acids/enzymes in the pumpkin, and the honey is a great source for moisturizing. The other benefits are:

Pumpkin:
Great for exfoliating and removing dead skin cell build-up because it is packed with enzymes and natural AHAs. Works well for brightening skin and helps with sun damage. It is loaded with Vitamin A & C. It also contains Vitamin E which helps regulate oil production. So many good things!

Honey:
Honey is a natural anti-microbial and can help fight acne breakouts from spreading. It is also loaded with antioxidants, which will rejuvenate skin and fight free radicals (those pesky things that cause aging).

To Make:
Mix one tablespoon cooked pumpkin (I used canned) and one teaspoon of honey. The smoother the mask is the better it goes on your skin, I used my kitchen blender. I also made extra to keep on hand in the fridge ;)

To Use:
Apply with a clean face brush (or clean fingertips!) onto a freshly cleansed and dry face. Leave on for 10-12 minutes and remove with a warm damp cloth. Since this is an exfoliator, I do not recommend using this more than 2-3 times a week. You don't want to remove your healthy skin cells, just those dull dead ones.

If you are allergic to either products, do not try this. Also ALWAYS do a patch test to make sure any new skin care will not cause a reaction.

Enjoy!

Southport, NC

Every year when we go to the coast for vacation, we make it a point to visit Southport, AKA where Safe Haven was filmed. It's the cutest coastal town and it is full of patriotic charm ;) It also helps that one of my family's favorite restaurants is there- Provision Company. There is also a Pro Co where we stay at Holden Beach, but it's fun to switch it up- even if you are eating crab cakes and cucumber salad...for the 78854599866 time. We ate dinner, walked around and took in the gorgeous views, and got ice cream. I probably ate my weight in ice cream last week. Anyway, I love cute little towns and this is one of my favorites in NC <3

Pamlico House B&B

Mar 19, 2016

The foyer of the B&B, right when you walk in the door you are greeted with antique charm.

A little reading spot located at the top of the stairs.

The breakfast table where you are served a homemade gourmet breakfast. So delicios! Still thinking about that french toast.

A cute restaurant right down the street from the B&B, located in the center of downtown Washington, NC.

*****

This is where my mom, my sisters and I stayed a few weeks back during our little weekend getaway in Washington, NC. It was our first B&B experience and we loved it! We loved the cozy feel, the warm welcomes, the food (duh!) and the charming atmosphere. You can always tell when something is built with love, you just can't get that feeling at a chain hotel- no matter how fancy the bathroom samples may be. If you ever find yourself in the Innerbanks town of Washington, North Carolina, I highly recommend the Pamlico House Bed & Breakfast. My sister had joked that she kinda hoped it was haunted haha, sadly it wasn't!

Bath, NC

Walking the streets of this small town was an experience. It is the oldest town in NC and was also the home of Edward Teach, aka Black Beard. I swear I could feel the history here. The views of the Pamlico River can be seen from every street just about, and with a population of less than 300 there are no cars driving around, no stoplights, no hustle and bustle. All you hear are seagulls and the wind. It is like stepping back in time. I loved it.
