Feed Your Skin (Natural Skincare)

natural skincare, anti-aging, african black soap, rose quartz roller, natural beauty

I am so excited to share this post with you guys! I had been trying to narrow down my favorite skincare and beauty items...
which is basically impossible for me. I use so many things for so many different things and I just have too many favorites :) SOOO, I will be sharing posts based on categories! Seems like a simple solution and I'm not sure what took me so long to decide on it haha. Anyway! My first (and favorite!) category is natural skincare. I love my Olay and luxe products, but there is just something about natural beauty that makes me feel like I'm literally feeding my skin. And my skin thanks me for it! In this post I will be sharing my picks in the order that I use each one.

1. African Black Soap

This soap is made from plant based products in Africa. It contains natural anti-bacterial properties, helps with breakouts, is a gentle formula, it's good for all skin types (helps balance oiliness and dryness), moisturizes, it is packed with antioxidants, and helps with hyperpigmentation, scarring, and inflammation/redness. So many benefits for a soap! I pick mine up at Whole Foods. I especially love this after a flight, I swear it prevents those pesky breakouts usually caused from flying!

2. Under Eye Oil

Ok, so this one I made. I use Argan oil (which is a level 0 comedogenic rating, meaning it will NOT clog your pores), lavender oil, and frankincense oil. The Argan oil moisturizes, the lavender oil treats puffiness and dark circles, and the frankincense tones and tightens the skin. Since I have started incorporating this magic oil into my routine, I very rarely need to wear color corrector or concealer under my eyes.

This hydrating oil helps with fine lines, wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation, sun damage, and scars. The high antioxidant content revitalizes skin and helps fight free radicals making it perfect for anti-aging. I use Whole Foods brand but this is a great organic cold-pressed option for under $10.

The key word here is UNREFINED. The comedogenic rating on this is a 0-2, depending on the brand and how rich the formula is. I personally have never had any problems with what I use. I love this as a moisturizer in the winter months when my skin needs a little TLC, and during the rest of the year I'll use it as a sleep in moisturizing mask 1-2 times a week. A little goes a long way and it does feel heavy when you put it on your skin but it absorbs over night and I promise your skin will thank you. You will probably want to use a small plastic spatula to get it out of the container- it's pretty solid. You then melt it in your hands by rubbing them together and pat it on your skin/rub it in. This moisturizer is rich in Vitamins A, E, and F. It is also full of fatty acids which keep skin hydrated, plump, and young looking. This raw formula has been used for centuries for anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and as a moisturizer.

This one can actually be used as a toner after you cleanse OR you can just use it throughout the day. I personally like to use it throughout the day- even if I am wearing makeup. The mist is cool and hydrating, it smells incredible, and it is such a great mood booster! The rose, geranium, and lavender
leave skin feeling and looking refreshed. This spray has been in my beauty bag for years and it's not going anywhere anytime soon!

I know, I know. It's a little extra. However! I usually gently massage my face after I apply my skincare products, and this actually feels way better than my fingers. I focus on my cheeks (gotta loosen those muscles!), forehead (really helps with fine lines!), and beside my eyes where the lines from laughing usually occur. I love how cool it feels on my skin...it's so pampering. You can keep this in your refrigerator but I find it cool enough even when left on the counter. Just be sure to keep it clean with a moist towelette or cotton ball. Benefits of facial rolling include reduced puffiness, reduced appearance of lines/wrinkles, de-stressing, promotes product penetration, and it supports lymphatic drainage. Any massage is going to improve blood circulation which helps with cell regeneration and skin tone, so doing this a few times a week can prove to be very beneficial.

I hope you found this post beneficial and informative, and as always if you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comment section or DM me on Instagram @xosamanthabrooke :)
