I will more than likely probably most def be a little MIA this week from social media and this space! I have a few more photos from a wedding to finish up and I'm also filling in for an old customer...so I'm back in an office for the week. I told myself if I could do it for almost 8 years one week is nothing, let's hope I'm right.

About this AMAZING BOHO sweater: I got it on ebay for like $20. Honestly guys, this whole year I have been getting like 90% of my clothes from eBay. I like that they're sometimes 'recycled' and also that you get less packaging (LOOKING AT YOU Nordstrom with your bags and papers in boxes!). Plus you can usually find the same items that are currently in the stores for a discount, so HOLLAAAA. The shorts are AE and I love the crochet pocket detail.

PS! I have a few hair tutorials lined up for the near future...in the mean time I wanted to let you guys know about this amazing T3 hair dryer! It's pricey but it dries my hair in under ten minutes with zero frizz. For this curly headed girl that is quite the miracle! It has definitely helped me be able to wear my hair more natural lately.

Pup Birthday Cake

Apr 17, 2018

My oldest baby (pup) turned TEN back in February and I never posted the cake recipe 🙈 How stinkin cute is he?! Corbin follows me around nonstop when I'm at home (as I type this he is under a blanket right under my desk...his favorite spot when I'm in my office), is always guarding me when I go to the bathroom, and thinks he is my protector. He has the sweetest heart and it kills me that he thinks the world is just a super happy safe place. Luckily he's never really known pain or evil and he doesn't have one mean bone in his body.

The cake is super easy to make and was a total hit with the pups...wish I could say the same about the birthday hats. (I got the recipe from Pinterest)

Cake:
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup shredded carrots
1 egg
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ cup all natural peanut butter
¼ cup vegetable oil
(the original recipe also called for 1/3 cup honey, I left that out to cut back on sugar)

Bake at 350* for about 25-30 min (use a small pan, it doesn't make as much as a human cake ha)

For the frosting I just melted some peanut butter in the microwave and drizzled it on top :) We actually ended up using the leftovers for treats for about a week!

Intro to Dermarolling

Apr 10, 2018

What it is/what it does:
Dermarolling basically puts your skin into damage control mode. You are 'tricking', so to speak, your skin into thinking it needs to create more elastin and collagen, ya know, to combat those tiny holes you are putting in it with the dermaroller. So your skin goes into overdrive and creates collagen and elastin, which we know are essential for firm and younger looking skin. This procedure also helps your skincare work more effectively by allowing your serum and moisturizer to get in the deeper layers of skin.

What to use:
I use a .25 mm dermaroller, which is the perfect length for fine lines, pore reduction, and skin discoloration. For deeper wrinkles it is recommended to use .5 mm to 1 mm, but honestly I wouldn't go longer than .5 mm unless you are going to see a licensed aesthetician or a dermatologist. Leave the deep stuff to the pros, just because you can scar your skin and it would kinda suck to have a million little scarred dots all over your face! After I use the dermaroller I apply a Vitamin C serum and Hyaluronic Acid serum. Vitamin C serum is loaded with antioxidants which combat free radicals and help with anti-aging, plus it will help your skin heal from the procedure. I then apply Hyaluronic Acid, which is a humectant, so it retains water and keeps your skin 'plump'- aka helps with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Lastly I apply a moisturizer or oil to soothe the skin. FYI: You can apply a serum before you roll, it is completely up to you.

What to expect:
Just remember you control the pressure and that the needles will penetrate no deeper than the size indicated on your roller, but you can still damage your skin. Use moderate pressure and good judgement. I personally don't think it hurts at all- if you can handle waxing and tweezing you can definitely handle this!

How to use:
1. Disinfect your roller with alcohol and make sure your face is clean.
I do my face in four sections: forehead, cheeks, chin. (DO NOT ROLL on the skin around your eyes! This is thin delicate skin and you will cause damage.)

2. You do not need to press super hard into your skin, the needles will penetrate with moderate pressure. More is not better. Do each section 6-8 times both horizontally and vertically. For best results taut your skin (hold it tight) in the section you are rolling.

3. Rinse your face with water ONLY. You do not want to remove more oils or aggravate the freshly rolled skin with face wash or soap.

4. Apply your serums, oil/moisturizer. (A basic routine is ok after rolling, avoid harsh products and exfoliating.)

5. Wash and disinfect your dermaroller.

FYI: The longer the needles on your roller the less often you should do the procedure, for .25 mm it is recommended to do 2-3 times a week- I only do mine once a week. I have still seen results with once a week and I do not want to overdo it. But, do what works for you! Just be sure to use good judgement and make sure your skin is healed before you repeat the process.

Here are the products I use for this routine (in this order: Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Farsali moisturizing oil):

The best (and sometimes worst haha) part of being a licensed aestheticism is everyone always wants to know what they can do to improve the look of their skin sans makeup- especially this time of year when temps are rising. Who doesn’t want to wear less makeup when it’s 90 out?! The main areas I say focus on for a youthful look are your neck and under eye area. These two areas show aging first because of the delicate skin. Our under eyes are ten times thinner than the rest of our face and can show aging 30% faster...crazy right? One of my goals for 2018 was to not have to wear makeup, and by skipping foundation (haven't worn a foundation since January, gasp!) and taking care of the skin around my eyes, I have seen major changes in my skin.

So about this eye cream: VII Code T2 Oxygen Eye Cream helps to diminish fine lines and wrinkles, lessen dark circles, and leaves your skin amazingly soft. By containing vitamins and antioxidants from sources such as avocado 🥑 and chamomile ❀, the cream helps prevent free radical damage. Free radical damage is basically from all the bad things- alcohol, caffeine, sun damage, pollution, you know, all the fun stuff and antioxidants fight those bad things and keep our cells safe and healthy. Antioxidants are absolutely essential for healthy skin and anti-aging.

The oxygen cream comes with a 'crescent strip' to apply the formula to the under eye area, although you can totally just use your fingers. I personally like applicators, even if it's just to scoop the cream out with (I have a small collection hehe) because I don't like to stick my fingers in my beauty products. Once bacteria get in a jar it can cause breakouts and I'd just rather not 😑. So if you're looking to ditch the concealers before summer, this is where to start!
