The Mast General Store in Valle Crucis, NC. They had two guys playing banjos and singing blue grass on the front porch of the store, it was like we stepped back in time!
The candy bins in the Mast General Store. I love how everything was so old fashioned, like nothing has changed since the first day of the store.
(iPhone pic) The inside of the general store, it was very charming. Check out those ceilings! Anthro, take note!
(iPhone pic) This post office is still a working US Post Office! It was unbelievable and is also a historical site.
My brother, refusing to look at the camera.
My other sister, definitely not refusing to look at the camera! ha
T & her boyfriend. This was his first trip with our fam, I think he'll make it ;)
This past weekend my family and I spent some time in Boone and the neighboring mountain towns. We explored, ate at the Daniel Boone Inn (we actually ate like everywhere it seemed), and we also went skiing. Well, they went skiing, I am too clumsy for that plus I had another sinus infection. My mom and I had just left the ski mountain to get our evening started, we had wild plans of getting coffee and shopping. We had JUST made it to a shop when she got a phone call. Actually let's go back to our plans... We wanted coffee and all the coffee shops closed at 6. So we decided to go shopping. Have you ever tried to shop in the Boone area? Not many choices. We went to the outlets and were so stoked about our up front parking spot and the lack of crowds, run the restroom and the custodian tells us everything closes at 7. It was 6:50. I couldn't believe it. So we drove to the mall and we were at Old Navy when my mom gets the call. I could tell her by her tone something was wrong, and my instinct was correct. My sister had broken her wrist while she was snowboarding. So we left the store and headed back to the ski place, picked her and my step dad up (the others finished skiing) and took my sister to the ER. She was tough and didn't cry, the only thing she seemed to be worried about was how mad her softball coach was going to be haha! Oh! She did cry when she asked me what color cast she should get and I asked her what color her prom dress was. THAT made her cry lol. Teenage girls! I think we were at the ER until a little after midnight. Sarah went to the orthopedic doctor today and we are hoping for a speedy recovery. It was just funny (not really but you know what I mean) because my mom had literally just said that if anyone gets hurt it will be Sarah because she isn't going to let anyone out-do her and then a few minutes later my stepdad called her. Mom was right!
Other than that we had a blast! Sunday was beautiful and we just drove around the small mountain towns, like Valle Crucis, NC pictured above in a few pics. It was just so lovely there. The air seemed so fresh and the sky was a perfect blue. I can't wait to go back in the spring when everything is green and blooming!
